Olneya tesota, commonly known as Desert Ironwood, is a flowering tree native to the Sonoran Desert in the southwestern United States and northwestern Mexico. It is known for its dark, iron-like wood, hence the name Ironwood. The tree produces small, purple flowers that develop into hard, woody pods filled with seeds.
