Diospyros mespiliformis, commonly known as Jackalberry or African Ebony, is a large evergreen tree native to sub-Saharan Africa. It is known for its dense, dark green foliage and smooth grey bark. The tree produces small, fragrant cream-colored flowers which develop into edible fruits resembling persimmons. The bark of the Jackalberry tree is often used for traditional medicine.
