It is hard to believe that we just released NurseryPeople in April. Since then, over 12,000 people have used the website from locations throughout the United States to find plants and nurseries.
There is a need for the Nursery People site.
That being said, as the sole developer, owner, and marketer of the site, I have had a challenge dedicating time to the project, as I am young, and have a family to feed. Up to this point, the site has been without financial backing from outside sources and so dedicating time to it is hard.
Today, I am sharing with you a way for you to be involved with the ongoing development and growth of the NurseryPeople site.
I have thought long and hard about how to generate revenue for the site, and in my point of view, the best route is for the website to be supported is by a coalition of NurseryPeople. All of us voluntarily giving. Some of us in time, and others in finances.
That is why I created a page on Open Collective. Here, we can contribute to the development of the site. and everyone will be able to see the expenses and income of the website freely at any time. Anyone will be able to submit expenses as they help in time, and anyone can also contribute financially. This way the NurseryPeople website is completely funded and supported by its users!
Right now, I have added two expenses to the site, which you can see in the expense section. I billed for time spent so far on the development of the site at a low rate, and for the hosting of the website and other costs involved with the infrastructure. As I hire help on the website and continue development, I will be adding more expenses related to that.
I am excited about this project, and I think it could be awesome, but at this point, I can't dedicate more time and resources to it without some financial backing. Your support will help me continue to be able to contribute and be a force for helping landscapers find wholesale plants and nurseries for years to come.
