Staphylea trifolia, commonly known as American Bladdernut, is a deciduous shrub native to eastern North America. It is grown for its unique appearance and ornamental value. The shrub features compound leaves with three leaflets and clusters of fragrant white flowers that bloom in spring. The flowers give way to three-lobed bladder-like capsules that contain small seeds. American Bladdernut grows up to 10-15 feet in height and has a similar spread.
