Silphium laciniatum, also known as Compassplant or Rosinweed, is a tall perennial plant that can reach heights of 3 to 10 feet. It belongs to the Asteraceae family and is native to North America. The plant has large, deeply lobed leaves that align themselves in a north-south direction, hence the name Compassplant. It produces bright yellow flowers that attract bees and butterflies. Silphium laciniatum prefers full sun and well-drained soil.
