Sempervivum calcareum (Hen and Chicks)
Sempervivum calcareum, commonly known as Hen and Chicks, is a beautiful succulent plant that forms rosette-shaped clusters. Each rosette consists of fleshy, pointed leaves with a blue-green coloration and serrated edges. The plant produces offsets, called 'chicks', which grow around the main rosette, hence the name 'Hen and Chicks'. This plant is known for its ability to tolerate poor soil conditions and drought, making it a popular choice for rock gardens. It is also deer-resistant.
