Sassafras varifolium, commonly known as Saxifrax, Sassafras, or Ague Tree, is a deciduous tree species native to eastern North America. It is known for its distinct leaves that come in three different shapes - unlobed ovals, bilobed, and trilobed. The leaves range in color from vibrant green in spring and summer to a mix of red, orange, and yellow in the fall. This tree produces small, yellow flowers in the spring, followed by bluish-black fruits. Sassafras varifolium is a medium-sized tree that brings beautiful colors to any landscape.
