Rhus ovata (Sugar Bush, Sugar Sumac)

Rhus ovata, commonly known as Sugar Bush or Sugar Sumac, is a flowering shrub native to Southern California and Baja California. It is known for its attractive, dark green leaves that turn bright red in the fall. The plant produces clusters of small, yellow flowers in the spring, followed by small, red berries that provide an important food source for local wildlife. Sugar Bush can reach a height of 6-10 feet and a width of 8-12 feet. It is drought-tolerant and thrives in full sun to partial shade.
