Quercus lyrata, commonly known as Overcup Oak, is a deciduous tree native to the southeastern United States. It is a medium to large-sized oak tree with a wide spreading crown and rounded canopy. The leaves are large, glossy, and leathery with a distinctive shape of a lyre or fiddle. It produces acorns that are partially enclosed by a fringed cup.
