Pinus sabiniana murrayana (Lodgepole Pine)

Pinus sabiniana murrayana, commonly known as Lodgepole Pine, is a coniferous tree native to the western United States. It is a tall and slender pine, reaching heights of up to 80 feet with a narrow crown. The needles are long and slender, usually occurring in bundles of three. Lodgepole Pines are known for their serotinous cones, which remain closed until exposed to high temperatures, such as those produced by wildfires.
