Opuntia ficus-indica (Indian Fig Cactus)
Opuntia ficus-indica, commonly known as the Indian Fig Cactus, is a species of cactus native to Mexico. It is a large, tree-like opuntia with flat, paddle-shaped leaves or cladodes. The cladodes can grow up to 18 inches long and are covered in small spines. The Indian Fig Cactus produces vibrant yellow flowers followed by edible fruits, which are often called figs, hence the common name.
