Black Mondo Grass, scientifically known as Ophiopogon planiscapus 'Ebony Knight' (also known as Arapaho or Nigrescens), is a unique and visually striking perennial grass. It is characterized by its dark black foliage, which contrasts beautifully with surrounding plants. The grass forms dense clumps of narrow, arching leaves, and in late summer, small spikes of pale-pink to white flowers emerge from the foliage. Black Mondo Grass is a slow-growing plant, but it is well worth the wait for its intense, dark color and interesting texture.
