Myrica pennsylvanica, commonly known as Northern Bayberry or Candleberry, is a small to medium-sized deciduous shrub that typically grows in an oval or rounded shape. It has dark green, glossy leaves and produces small, fragrant gray berries that persist through the winter. The leaves are aromatic when crushed and the waxy berries are often used to make candles. It is a tough, adaptable plant that is commonly found along coastlines and in sandy soils.
