Musa basjoo, commonly known as Japanese Fiber Banana, is a large, tropical, herbaceous perennial in the family Musaceae. It is native to the Ryukyu Islands of Japan and is widely cultivated for its fiber and edible fruits. The plant produces very large, tropical-looking leaves that can reach a length of over 6 feet. It also bears small, greenish-yellow fruits that are about 3 inches long.
