Michelia figo, commonly known as Banana Shrub or Port Wine Magnolia, is a small evergreen shrub native to China. It is named for its sweet, banana-like fragrance that emanates from its creamy yellow flowers. The flowers are goblet-shaped and appear in spring and summer. The shrub has glossy, dark green leaves that provide a nice contrast to the flowers. It grows to a height of 6-10 feet and has a spread of 6-8 feet.
