Magnolia acuminata (Cucumbertree)
Magnolia acuminata, commonly known as Cucumbertree, is a large deciduous tree that can reach a height of 50-80 feet. It is named for its unique cucumber-like fruit that appears in late summer. The tree has large, ovate leaves that are dark green on top and pale green underneath. In spring, it produces clusters of yellow, tulip-shaped flowers that emit a pleasant fragrance. Cucumbertree is commonly found in zone 4 and is a great addition to larger landscapes or as an accent tree.
