Hyphaene coriacea (Ginger Bread Palm, Lala Palm, Ilala Palm, Llala Palm)
The Hyphaene coriacea, commonly known as the Ginger Bread Palm or Lala Palm, is a species of palm tree native to eastern Africa. This large, slow-growing palm has a single trunk that can reach heights of up to 35 feet, topped with a crown of large, fan-shaped leaves. The trunk is covered in a gingerbread-like bark, which gives it its common name. The Ginger Bread Palm produces small, edible fruits that are used locally for food and crafts.
