The Purple European Beech (Fagus sylvatica 'Spaethiana') is a deciduous tree known for its striking purple foliage. It has a dense, round canopy that provides excellent shade. The leaves emerge purple in spring, turn to deep reddish-purple in summer, and then transition to coppery-brown in autumn. This cultivar is prized as an ornamental tree due to its brilliant foliage colors. It can reach a height of 45 feet and has a similar spread.
