Thorny Elaeagnus (Elaeagnus pungens 'Fruitlandii') is an evergreen shrub that is native to China and Japan. It is known for its dense, thorny foliage that provides excellent security or privacy screening. The leaves of this plant are glossy dark green on top and silver-gray beneath. In autumn, small, fragrant flowers bloom which are followed by red berries. It has a compact and spreading growth habit, reaching a height of 6-10 feet and a width of 10-15 feet.
