Eichhornia crassipes (Water Hyacinth)
Water Hyacinth, scientifically known as Eichhornia crassipes, is an aquatic plant with waxy leaves. It is native to the Amazon basin but is now found in tropical and subtropical regions worldwide. The plant forms large floating mats on the surface of still or slow-moving water bodies. It has attractive lilac-colored flowers and broad, glossy leaves that provide shade and shelter for aquatic organisms. Water Hyacinth can grow up to a height of 1 meter and has a width of around 1-1.5 meters. It is highly invasive and can cause ecological harm to water ecosystems.
