Echinocereus stramineus (Texas Strawberry Cactus)

Echinocereus stramineus, commonly known as the Texas Strawberry Cactus, is a small cactus species native to Texas, particularly in the Big Bend region. It typically grows in arid desert areas and rocky slopes. This cactus has cylindrical stems that can grow up to 8 inches in height and 3 inches in diameter. It is covered with sharp spines and produces vibrant pink to red flowers in late spring. The Texas Strawberry Cactus got its name due to its red fruit that resembles a strawberry.
