Cyperus glaber (Galingale)

Cyperus glaber, commonly known as Galingale or Hardy Papyrus, is a type of grass that grows in wet areas such as marshes or along the edges of ponds. It is a clumping perennial with slender, upright stems that can reach a height of 2 to 4 feet. The plant has long, narrow leaves that are arranged in a fan-like pattern at the top of the stems. Galingale produces small, brown flower spikes that are held above the foliage.
