Copernicia macroglossa (Cuban Petticoat Palm)

The Cuban Petticoat Palm, scientifically known as Copernicia macroglossa, is a species of palm native to Cuba. It is famous for its large, fan-shaped leaves that give the appearance of a petticoat. The trunk of this palm is stout and heavily covered in old leaf bases creating the petticoat look. As it ages, the lower leaves turn brown and collapse against the trunk giving the palm its distinctive look.
