Calycanthus floridus, commonly known as Sweetshrub or Allspice, is a deciduous shrub native to the southeastern United States. It is known for its unique, sweet and spicy fragrance, which is emitted from its reddish-brown, camellia-like flowers. The leaves are glossy and dark green, turning golden yellow in the fall. Sweetshrub grows to a height of 6 to 9 feet and spreads about 6 to 12 feet.
