Callicarpa americana, also known as American Beautyberry, is a deciduous shrub native to the southern United States. It is known for its showy clusters of bright purple berries that form in late summer and persist into fall. The berries attract a variety of birds and wildlife. The shrub has opposite, elliptical leaves that are green in spring and summer, turning yellow in the fall. It grows to a height of 3-8 feet and has a similar spread.
