Bletilla striata (Chinese Ground Orchid)

The Bletilla striata, also known as Chinese Ground Orchid, is a hardy perennial plant that belongs to the orchid family. It is native to China and Japan. This beautiful orchid produces lovely magenta or purple flowers in the spring, which resemble miniature Cattleya orchids. The plant has pleated, grass-like leaves that form clumps and can reach a height of 12-18 inches. The Chinese Ground Orchid thrives in USDA hardiness zones 5-9.
