Berberis triacanthophora (Three-spine Barberry)
Berberis triacanthophora, commonly known as Three-spine Barberry, is a shrub native to the western United States. It is a deciduous, thorny shrub that typically grows 3-5 feet tall. The branches are slender and armed with three-spines at each node. The leaves are small, oval-shaped and dark green, turning shades of red in the fall. In spring, it produces small, yellow flowers that give way to dark blue berries in the summer.
