Arctostaphylos uva-ursi 'Wood's Compact', commonly known as Bearberry or Kinnikinick, is a low-growing evergreen shrub with small, leathery leaves. It forms a dense mat of trailing stems, making it an excellent groundcover plant. In spring, small white or pink flowers appear, followed by bright red berries in the summer. This plant is known for its suitability in rocky or sandy soils and is often used to stabilize slopes. It is drought-tolerant and suitable for xeriscaping. 'Wood's Compact' reaches a height of 6-8 inches and a width of 2-4 feet.
