Arbutus menziesii (Pacific Madrone)
Arbutus menziesii, commonly known as Pacific Madrone, is an evergreen tree native to the west coast of North America. It is known for its beautiful exfoliating bark that reveals a smooth, reddish-brown layer underneath. The tree has broad, leathery leaves and produces small clusters of white flowers followed by red berries. It can reach a height of 20 to 50 feet and has a distinctive trunk that is often twisted and gnarled.
